Water Cycle Experiment

On Friday last week we did a water filtering experiment.  In our lesson we learnt about the water cycle and how water gets filtered.  We got told that it takes six hours to clean water!  After we learnt about this we each got into partners and it was time for the experiment.  For the experiment there was a bucket of dirty and non-filtered water.  With that water we used different ingredients to filter it and make it cleaner.  The ingredient we had to use were cotton balls, paper towels, bark and sand.  Not every ingredient filtered it properly though.  When my partner and I finished using the ingredients we chose our own amount of the ingredients we could use to make it as clean as we could.  Me and my partner chose cotton balls and paper towels and it worked!  Here is what ours looks like.

Maths Co-ordinates

For maths this week, we have been learning to do co-ordinates.  The two pictures I did was a flossing panda and a car.  This is what my co-ordinates look like.

Book Week

This week was Book Week.  On Monday a New Zealand writer named Stu Duval came to visit our school.  Then on Wednesday another New Zealand author came.  His name is James Russell.  Today was the book parade and we all dressed up as a book character.  My friend and I dressed up in a group. I was Greg Heffley and my friend was up as Rowley Jefferson. We are from The Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  After morning tea was a literacy treasure hunt. It was really fun. These are some photos of our costumes.

Cross Country

Last week on Thursday we did cross country.  In the morning the juniors ran and we went outside  to cheer for them.  After morning tea it was time for the seniors to run.  First was the year fours and next was the year fives.  Eventually it was the year sixes.  I was scared and excited at the same time but I'm happy I finished the race.

All About Samoa

Because last week was Samoan Language Week we made posters about Samoa.  On our posters we have different activities and facts.  There are also writing prompts and how to count to ten. Another thing we did was an activity about a myth.  The myth we did was the Turtle and the Shark.  The Turtle and the Shark is about a women and her daughter.  Then there was a great famine all over where they lived, so they turned into a turtle and a shark to look for food on another island.  When they found food they decided to dance and entertain the people that were kind and gave them food.  This is what my poster looks like.

Mandarin

On Wednesdays this year we have started doing Mandarin.  Mandarin is a type of Chinese language.  In Mandarin we have learnt to do speeches about ourselves with seven sentences. This is my speech
